about

Inspired by the release of my "Desert Vibes EP" on Perfect Location Records, this album is comprised of a few pieces of music I'd had sitting around that I wanted to release as a (somewhat) coherent concept - the moon and the sea. Dark night, blues and the pull of the tides between the moon and it's love, the sea are where this music came from - which to me, sound predominantly blue, black and white for some reason. Maybe even midnight blues are there some where.

This album has some slow burners like 'Pacific Atoll' produced with my friend Alex Brandmeyer (listen for the drop!), while tracks like 'Pain' and 'Moon Like Any Other Moon' are more melancholic solitary efforts or evocative of future sci-fi optimism.

'Pain' was written during a particular difficult time, but gave me the much needed release to articulate what I was feeling. There's actually a James Holden sample buried deep in there, but I've mangled it so much, that I don't think you'd even hear it:)

'Dream Jungle' was mastered by my friend Christian Hildebrand at SoundCloud in Berlin and was something I wrote when I had moved back to the US, processing the special joy and happiness of my previous few years in Berlin.

'ISAN' is inspired by the IDM artists of the same name and was recorded live in one take. The cuts and filters are all 'hand done' and cut between different tracks on a DJ mixer, hip-hop style.

'New Rain' was made with all hand-programmed drums and also recorded live in one take. Some mini-edits after, but also a lot of fun to play. Melodic and melancholic with shuffly percussion

I hope you enjoy listening to these pieces as much as I had making them and thanks for listening and reading along.
